== History ==

Scrivener dated the manuscript to the 15th century.

The manuscript was added to the list of New Testament manuscripts by [[Johann Martin Augustin Scholz|Scholz]] (1794–1852) with a number 397.<ref>{{Cite book

The manuscript was described by [[Giuseppe Bianchini]]. Scrivener in the 3rd edition of his "[[A Plain Introduction to the Criticism of the New Testament]]" catalogued it twice, as 397 and 617. In the 4th edition it was corrected and number 617 was given to the other manuscript. [[C. R. Gregory]] saw it in 1886.<ref name = Gregory/>

The manuscript is currently housed at the [[Biblioteca Vallicelliana]] (E. 40) in [[Rome]].<ref name = Aland/>
