&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;In mathematics, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Sendov&amp;#039;s conjecture&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, sometimes also called &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Ilieff&amp;#039;s conjecture&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, concerns the relationship between the locations of [[zero of a function|roots]] and [[critical point (mathematics)|critical point]]s of a [[polynomial function]] of a [[complex variable]].  It is named after [[Blagovest Sendov]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The conjecture states that for a polynomial&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
: &amp;lt;math&amp;gt; f(z) = (z - r_1)\cdots (z-r_n),\qquad (n\ge 2) &amp;lt;/math&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
with all roots &amp;#039;&amp;#039;r&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;1&amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;,&amp;amp;nbsp;...,&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;r&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;n&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt; inside the closed [[unit disk]] |&amp;#039;&amp;#039;z&amp;#039;&amp;#039;|&amp;amp;nbsp;≤&amp;amp;nbsp;1, each of the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;n&amp;#039;&amp;#039; roots is at a distance no more than&amp;amp;nbsp;1 from at least one critical point.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The [[Gauss–Lucas theorem]] says that all of the critical points lie within the [[convex hull]] of the roots.  It follows that the critical points must be within the unit disk, since the roots are.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The conjecture has not been proved for&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;n&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;gt;&amp;amp;nbsp;8.&lt;br /&gt;
