Playfair's axiom

Lithium imide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Template:Chem. It is a white solid that turns brick red in sunshine.

After vacuo heating, the mixture returns to white.

It can be synthesized by the decomposition of lithium amide:

Its crystal structure is similar to lithium oxide (a = 504pm) and its density is 1.48g/cm³. It is also a strong base that is able to react with many organic compounds.

Leyden Energy is working on battery technology involving lithium imide. They state that they expect 10% more charge time and double the battery lifespan, but expect it not to be available in mass consumer products until 2014.
