One Thirty Eight was at one time focused on creating legal walls for their art in the City of Somerville by way of getting permission from the owners of the property. In response to this, the City of Somerville issued a law that banned graffiti style art of any kind whatsoever. If the owner of the property would not remove the art themselves, the city would remove it and fine the owner. One Thirty Eight would later be credited with the public art style known as graffilthy.
